Bat Rehabilitation and Conservation
For my RA hours as an MS student, I rehabilitated injured and sick bats with the goal of releasing them back to their natural habitats
This sassy Indiana bat (Myotis sodalis) was attacked by a house cat but, thankfully, was rescued before any further damage was done.
Bats are able to regrow their wing membranes just as humans are able to regrow their skin. This bat was able to be released within a year --and yes, she completely grew back the missing section of her wing! |
What can you do?
If you find a bat in or near a building, call your nearest rehabilitator and DO NOT attempt to handle the bat on your own.
